Blizzard confirms it’s working on a 1-5 player ‘story difficulty’ for its big raids in World of Warcraft- The War Within, and it’s honestly about time-

World of Warcraft’s always had an issue with its storytelling—I mean, it’s historically had a lot of issues if you tally them all up—but first and foremost is the problem that, if you want to cap off the expansion story, then you’ll need to get your raiding boots on.

That’s nothing too unusual for the expansions of WoW’s yesteryear, where being invested in the game’s story was more of an optional thing for lore enthusiasts. Still important, which was why it was all there, but by no means the central draw. Times, however, and tastes have changed.

To keep up with said times, WoW’s really shifting how it handles its storytelling in some big ways. Follower dungeons were a huge step forward, letting players experience Dragonflight’s story beats without Killzmornn the Death Knight spamming “gogogo” in party chat. Later, I confirmed with both associate design director Maria Hamilton and Ion Hazzikostas that these dungeons (and delves) would be used…

Civ 6 streamer figures out how to win without founding any cities in ‘extremely impressive’ video-

If you ask me, we’re ramshackle contraptions designed to hunt, gather, and perish early from preventable disease, and this society stuff all started going downhill the second we got into agriculture. When we were young, hale, and nomadic, roaming the steppes and plains? Those were our glory days. At least we can relive them via a recent video from a streamer called boesthius, who undertook the Civilisation 6 “no settle: domination challenge” to win a match of Civ without founding any cities of his own.

For me, that’s already impossible, but boesthius decided to make life harder for himself by adding a few rules on top. Besides never settling cities, he also couldn’t seize any more than three cities from each of his AI opponents, and he couldn’t churn out any units beyond civilian units (like builders and traders) and siege units (like battering rams and siege towers), meaning he’d have to press gang enemy units into his service. He also played on zombie mode, because hey, why …

A simple $5 hack triples the wireless range of this Corsair gaming headset-

Good headsets are one of the PC peripherals it can really be worth investing in but there’s nothing worse than dropping a few hundred bucks on a great headset only to have it let you down when out of range. That is unless you can perform a simple $5 hack like this DIY champion.

Hackster spotted this great mod created by Hackaday User rafii6312 which triples the range of their Corsair HS80 wireless headset. This is a headset known for having great audio quality, but not the best wireless range. It’s a fairly simple hack that only requires messing with the headset’s 2.4GHz dongle that plugs into the PC. Some light soldering is required, but other than that it shouldn’t be a difficult procedure.

However, it is worth noting that it certainly voids your warranty, especially as there’s no way to open the receiver without breaking the housing. So you definitely won’t be able to send these back to Corsair if something goes wrong further down the line.

The hack starts…

Diablo 4 player defies death itself with sorcerer build so unkillable they went AFK for 20 minutes against the Butcher-

Immortality is possible in Diablo 4. You just need the right build and a little ring that might take a while to get, but it’s possible, as demonstrated by YouTube user Emilyheartz987.

In one of Emilyheartz987’s recent videos, a max-level Butcher spends 20 minutes trying to kill them as they stand there without attacking. Their health bar doesn’t budge as one of the hardest bosses in the game tries to cleave them down. Emilyheartz987 is so confident that they casually tweak their skills as the one-sided fight goes on.

Emilyheartz987’s Mana Tank Sorcerer is what I’d call a variant of the popular Ball Lightning Sorcerer build, which is easily the strongest build in the game right now. Ball Lightning relies on a Legendary Aspect that lets you surround yourself in absurdly high damage electric orbs. They cost a ton of mana, but with the right gear, you can sweep through the hardest dungeons in minutes, and kill bosses in seconds.

The Mana Tank Sorcerer build retains the…

Amid fan backlash, Modern Warfare 3 studio bluntly denies reports the campaign was scraped together in 16 months as ‘simply not true’-

Modern Warfare 3 hasn’t had the smoothest of entries. This latest entry has caught some major flak for being a ‘glorified expansion’ in the eyes of some fans, thanks to some confused initial messaging, carrying your guns over, and its speedy—some suggest rushed—development cycle. Now that it’s out, the campaign’s been panned for both its short length and an overreliance on “open combat” missions.

As Bloomberg reports, some of that same doubt came from inside the house during development, citing “more than a dozen current and former Call of Duty Developers” who reportedly felt that the plan was unclear. Some say they were directly told it was an expansion—”a smaller-scale Modern Warfare spinoff set in Mexico,” according to the site—until a pivot later in development to a full-priced release.

The Bloomberg report goes on to say that: “Some staff at Sledgehammer, who had to work nights and weekends to finish the game, said they felt betrayed…

Remedy and Tencent enter into a $17m loan agreement that could lead to it owning a larger chunk of the Alan Wake developer

Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy has entered into a convertible loan agreement with Chinese conglomerate Tencent, to the amount of €15 million/$16,761,075. This unsecured loan could later be converted into Remedy shares “under certain circumstances” on the third anniversary of the drawdown.

The deal has yet to be approved, and will be up for discussion during Remedy’s Extraordinary General Meeting on October 24.

“Part of Remedy’s long-term strategy has been to strengthen our position in the value chain, to have more control over how our games are commercialized, and to grow our share of the value these games can create,” Remedy CEO, Tero Virtala said in a press release. “As we move towards self-publishing, this financing will support us in developing and fully realizing the potential of the games we have in development and successfully carrying out the commercial activities of our next self-published games. Tencent’s investment demonstrates strong confidence…
